Different Types of Bibs
Bibs for adults come in different designs, materials, sizes and colors. They are available in versions with 1, 2 or 3 layers. Another distinguishing feature is the bib closure. These bibs are either tied, closed with snaps or fastened with Velcro. The materials are mostly terrycloth, cotton, plastics or silicone.
Of course, this practical everyday aid is available as a disposable bib, but also as a reusable version that can be washed in the washing machine. Here is an overview of the different adult bibs:

Disposable Bibs
Disposable bibs are increasingly being used in inpatient care and are particularly useful when a sterile environment is required. They are intended for single use and should therefore be discarded after use.
Bib with Catch Pocket
The catch pocket or crumb tray prevents food scraps and crumbs from ending up on the floor. Instead, the leftovers end up in the pocket and the floor stays clean. These bibs are reusable and can be washed in the washing machine.
Bib with Sleeves
These adult bibs are particularly suitable for people who feed themselves but have difficulty doing so. If a large area of the upper body needs to be covered, these eating bibs are the ideal solution.
Waterproof Bibs
The bibs absorb liquids while also preventing them from penetrating the fabric. This keeps clothes dry and makes serving food and drinks no longer a problem.
Absorbent Bibs
These adult bibs are particularly absorbent and absorb liquids very quickly. They are especially useful when liquid food is given frequently, as they optimally protect clothing from stains.
Which Closure for the Adult Bib Is the Most Practical?
Closure to Tie:
The tightness of the lacing can be adjusted individually. The bib for seniors is placed around the neck and tied. The person being cared for will probably need help with this.
Closure with Velcro:
Most people can easily put on and attach a protective bib with Velcro themselves, even if mobility is restricted. The bib can also be fastened to different degrees for adults.
Closure with Push Button:
Push buttons can be an obstacle due to limited motor skills. Here people may need help putting on the bib. In most cases, the width around the neck of dining bibs with snaps cannot be adjusted flexibly, unless there are different rows of buttons that offer an alternative width.
Cleaning Adult Bibs
Disposable bibs for adults can of course be thrown away after use. Reusable bibs require different cleaning procedures depending on the bib. To do this, read the cleaning instructions for the respective adult bib. Bibs with a moisture-proof coating should only be washed carefully in order to maintain the impermeability properties. Other senior bibs can be washed at high temperatures. Most bibs for adults can also be tumble dried.
